Today, a meeting of the Latvian Association of Local Governments (LSS) will take place, during which the protocol of agreement and disagreements between the Cabinet of Ministers and the LSS regarding the budget for next year and the budget framework for 2026-2028 will be discussed, reported LSS representative Liene Užule.
The meeting will be attended by Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, Minister of Finance Arvils Ašeradens, Minister of Smart Governance and Regional Development Raimonds Čudars, and Minister of Education and Science Dace Melbārde.
It is planned that during the meeting, the LSS council will vote to approve the protocol and make a decision to grant the organization's leader Gints Kaminskis the mandate to sign the protocol on behalf of the LSS.
The government, for its part, plans to make a decision on the protocol on October 7.
The signing of the protocol on the agreement and disagreements between the government and municipalities will take place after its approval by the LSS council and the Cabinet of Ministers, and then it will be attached to the budget documents package for next year.
The government plans to approve the state budget project on October 14 and submit it for consideration to the Saeima on October 15.
