After several warm and sunny days, more unstable weather is returning to Latvia. In the coming days, rain, locally heavy downpours, and thunderstorms are expected across the country.
Residents of Latvia should prepare for more changeable weather. According to meteorologists' forecasts, starting Friday and for most of the next week, rain will periodically fall across the country. In some areas, thunderstorms and heavy downpours are possible.
The most intense precipitation is expected on Saturday night. The worst of the weather may affect Kurzeme, where the highest amount of rain is forecasted.
Friday and Saturday will be marked by cloudy weather. The sun will appear less frequently than in recent days, and on Saturday, gusty western and southwestern winds will accompany the rain.
Temperatures will remain quite comfortable for early June. On Friday, the air will warm up to +20...+25 degrees, while it will be slightly cooler on the coast.
On Saturday, due to clouds and precipitation, it will become fresher — the maximum temperature will range from +15 to +22 degrees.
Those planning outdoor activities should pay attention to Sunday. According to current forecasts, this day will be the sunniest and most favorable of the entire weekend. Temperatures will rise again to +20...+25 degrees.
However, next week, the weather will become unstable again. Meteorologists predict a mix of sunny periods with rain and thunderstorms, and by midweek, a gradual decrease in temperature is possible.
Despite the brief deterioration in weather, summer in Latvia continues ahead of the climatic norm. Meteorological summer officially began on June 1, and long-term forecasts indicate that this June may be about two degrees warmer than usual.
Thus, the upcoming rains are likely to be just a temporary pause in the series of warm summer days, rather than a sign of serious cooling.
