The outgoing government was heavily criticized, and in many ways, 'probably justifiably', however, a lot has been accomplished, stated the resigning Prime Minister Evika Silina ('New Unity') on Tuesday, as she conducted her possibly last government meeting.
At the beginning of the open part of the meeting, Silina thanked all the ministers, state secretaries, and their deputies, as well as partners for their collaboration. The politician emphasized that many important decisions had been made during this time.
Silina wished the ministers who will remain in the next government to maintain a high priority for their issues.
Several ministers also expressed their gratitude to Silina for their joint work in the government. For example, the Minister of Health Hosam Abu Meri ('New Unity'), who is also a candidate for this position in the cabinet being formed by Andris Kulbergs ('United List'), emphasized that during the work of this government, many important decisions for healthcare were made that previous governments had failed to approve. The 'strong shoulder' of the Prime Minister was also crucial, said Abu Meri.
In turn, the Minister of Transport Aitis Shvinka ('Progressives') stated that Silina's personal contribution allowed for navigating and advancing very complex issues in the transport sector. He mentioned that he met with the Prime Minister every week to discuss major transport projects.
The Minister of Economics Viktor Valainis (Union of Greens and Farmers) also thanked Silina for their collaboration and presented her with flowers.
Other ministers also expressed their gratitude for her work.
