The expert pointed out interesting data from the EU statistical agency.

Analyst of the Confederation of Employers Janis Hermanis shared a table on the social network Facebook, compiled by the EU statistical agency Eurostat, which lists the net salaries of all EU countries, adjusted for purchasing power parity. Our country, as you might guess, is at the bottom of this table, specifically in 5th place from the bottom. The only consolation is that we have surpassed Estonia! This happened due to an increase in personal income tax rates and VAT in the neighboring country. Thus, in Latvia, the annual net salary (after taxes) averages 20,533 euros, while in Estonia it is 20,047 euros. The worst situation is in Greece, where the net salary is 17,509 euros.

Lithuania, on the other hand, is steadily approaching the group of EU middle-income countries, with an annual salary of 22,859 euros. It is worth noting that the average figure for the EU is 26,346 euros.

The highest average annual salary is in Luxembourg at 40,846 euros, which is almost twice as much as in Latvia! The top three also includes Austria (32,608 euros) and Ireland (32,059 euros).
