Despite the rainy weather and established barriers, residents of Daugavpils are bringing flowers to the memorial in Dubrovin Park on the morning of May 9.
Police officers are on duty at the memorial. The area around the "eternal flame" remains fenced off, but limited access to the site is provided. Photos from the LETA agency show that dozens of bouquets and flowers have already gathered at the memorial.
So far, no incidents or violations of public order have been recorded. The police continue to monitor the situation in an enhanced mode.

It was previously reported that security measures in Daugavpils have been strengthened this year following a February incident at the "eternal flame," when an explosion occurred during maintenance, presumably related to a gas leak. As a result, the area around the memorial has not been fully opened and the fencing has been maintained.

The police also emphasized that individual laying of flowers is not prohibited; however, any actions that may be interpreted as glorifying military aggression or Soviet symbolism will be suppressed.

The Daugavpils municipality previously reported that no applications for public events on May 9 had been received.
