The State Police of Latvia has established during the investigation that yesterday in Rezekne, not one, but two unmanned aerial vehicles crashed into the oil product storage facility, the police reported.
Following the incident with drones at the oil product storage facility in Rezekne yesterday, the police have initiated a criminal process under the section of the Criminal Law "Crimes against the State."
After conducting initial procedural actions at the scene and a preliminary examination of the drone wreckage by the involved experts, as well as taking into account the information available to the authorities, the police established that two unmanned aerial vehicles had struck the facility.
For further investigation, the criminal case has been transferred to the State Security Service of Latvia in accordance with jurisdiction.
If residents have any materials related to the incident — videos, photographs, or any other information, law enforcement agencies urge them not to publish these on social media, but to pass them on to the State Security Service. All these materials are analyzed in conjunction with the information already available to the authorities and may be useful for the investigation.
The police remind that in cases of discovering a suspicious drone or its wreckage, residents should immediately call 112, providing the location, time, and any other known information. Under no circumstances should one approach the drone or its wreckage.
As reported by bb.lv, it was mentioned in Latvia that two drones had penetrated the airspace — another one flew to Russia. However, according to the Russian version, five drones went missing in the Rezekne area.
