The Cruise Ship Season Begins at the Port of Riga

Today, the cruise ship season begins at the Port of Riga, with a total of 103 visits planned, the Freeport Authority of Riga reported to the LETA agency.

The 2026 cruise ship season kicks off this weekend with the arrival of two vessels from German cruise companies.

The first cruise ship of this season will dock at the Port of Riga on Sunday — the 144-meter liner "Hamburg" from the German company "Plantours," which will bring around 420 passengers to Riga. On Monday, the port will welcome the 251-meter liner "AIDADiva" from the German cruise line "AIDA Cruises," which has a maximum passenger capacity of 2,500.

This year, 103 cruise ship calls are planned — the highest number in the port's history. It is expected that Riga will be visited by at least 135,000 cruise tourists, which is 17% more than in 2025, and will set a record.

The Freeport Authority reported that 11 cruise ship calls are expected in May, 22 in June, 22 in July, and 19 in both August and September. As in the previous year, the cruise season will continue into the fall and winter — ten more cruise ship visits have already been announced for Riga.
