Someone named Sanda Vahtangova on social network X is asking the question - is the Russian language a symbol of a totalitarian regime?
According to her observation, it is used to glorify this regime, for Russification, as well as for penetrating and seizing the territory of other countries. Language, like a dog marking poles, signifies the territory of its dominance. Amendments should be made to Article 13 of the Law on the State Language.
Liana Langa responded to the post. It turned out that the National Alliance is also thinking about this: "I invite you to familiarize yourself with the declaration submitted to the parliament by the Nacionālā apvienība regarding the criminal Russification carried out by the Soviet occupation regime in Latvia and the elimination of its linguistic consequences. The promotion of this declaration continues."
But, Langa laments, it is being stalled by the current coalition.
