Latvia is lagging behind in the tourism sector.
Latvia has become the only country in the EU that still lags behind the pre-COVID level in terms of the number of overnight stays by foreign guests in hotels - down 15.6%! In Lithuania, in 2025, the increase in the number of foreign guests compared to 2019 was 10.5%, while in Estonia it was 3.2%. On average, in the EU, the increase in the number of nights tourists spent in hotels was 21%. Expert Janis Hermanis pointed this out on the social network X.
