Sports fans often mention the legendary sports commentator Anatolijs Kreipans, who in previous years always commented on the opening of the Olympic Games as well as competitions in several sports disciplines, writes NRA.lv.
Let us remind you that LTV has terminated its employment relationship with the legendary commentator, so both the opening ceremony and the current competitions are being commented on by other sports journalists. One of the commentators during the opening of the Olympics faced widespread criticism on social media. The work of other commentators also often provokes a wave of criticism.
Now, a sharp remark has been made by the famous actor Gundars Abolins, who wrote on his Facebook page:
"I’m watching cross-country skiing and biathlon. How I miss Anatolijs Kreipans!!!"
Under his post, commentators left more than 2,200 likes and over 130 comments with a similar sentiment - people talk about cheap jokes and empty conversations.
"... in Latvia, there are viewers who are not interested in cheap jokes while watching the Olympic Games; they are interested in experience and knowledge about sports!
"His preparation and knowledge educate everyone - whether you are a die-hard sports fan or just an observer of the Olympics. Currently, many broadcasts are absolutely unnecessary empty conversations that sometimes are very distracting."
"I’m watching the Olympics! How I miss a commentator who understands what it means to 'comment'! This 'chatter' is sometimes annoying! But I want to look at everything positively!"
Social media users are asking to bring Kreipans back and say that they have to watch the competitions without sound.
