Traffic Signs on Murjāņu Street in Riga Will Change

Starting today, changes will be made to the traffic organization on the section of Murjāņu Street between Vangažu and Juglas Streets in Riga — the maximum permitted speed will be reduced to 30 kilometers per hour (km/h), the municipality reported to the LETA agency, writes LETA.

Changes in traffic organization on the section of Murjāņu Street from Vangažu Street to Trampļa Street are related to the condition of the temporary road surface during the construction of the stormwater drainage system. Meanwhile, on the section of Murjāņu Street from Ainažu Street to Silciema Street, road surface renewal is planned. Construction work is expected to resume when favorable weather conditions arise.

It is anticipated that after the completion of the repair work, the restrictions will remain in place permanently.

Changes on the section of Murjāņu Street from Trampļa Street to Juglas Street are related to the need to enhance the safety of pedestrians and cyclists in this area. Therefore, on this section of the street, the maximum permitted speed will be permanently reduced to 30 km/h.

The municipality notes that several educational institutions are located nearby, which significantly increases the number of children moving near this street daily. Reducing the speed will effectively calm traffic, creating a more predictable, quiet, and safe environment for all road users and local residents.

The municipality urges drivers to be attentive, consider the changes in traffic organization, and comply with them.
