Wow! Chlorpyrifos found in spice from India in Latvia

The Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) identified an exceedance of the permissible level of pesticide residue chlorpyrifos in the Indian-origin spice "Asofoetida" during laboratory control, according to information published by the service.

The authority reported that 0.081 milligrams of chlorpyrifos per kilogram was found in the spice "Asofoetida" of Indian origin, with a net weight of 100 grams and batch number "70", with a potential error of 0.041 milligrams per kilogram.

PVD explains that the product did not enter the market.

PVD has published a notification about the identified violation in the European Union's Rapid Alert System.

PVD is a government institution under the Ministry of Agriculture and carries out state supervision and control in the field of food and veterinary circulation.
