Saeima Deputy Discovers 'Waiters' in Latvia. What Are They Waiting For?

Those accused of activities against the state, the language of the state, and the existing order are just the visible part of the iceberg, said the head of the Saeima National Security Commission, deputy from 'New Unity' Ainars Latkovskis to TV24 in the program Ziņu TOP.

According to the deputy, many have long been in Russia.

"Especially a few years ago, we observed a situation where state security services detained people suspected of espionage, but the courts still released them, not keeping them in custody, because it was not, they say, murder or something like that," he said.

"Crossing the border is a very common occurrence. Through Estonia to Russia, for example. As for acts of sabotage, when something needs to be burned, a memorial site damaged, trying to set fire to the Museum of Occupation, of course, people are hired for that. Many are dependent on this, and if this ideology coincides, you support the Kremlin, its actions in Ukraine, and you get paid for it, then there are those who are ready to carry it out. Let's not lie to ourselves, there is no need to lie: those who are often called 'waiters' in Ukraine are also present in our society, that is quite clear," stated Latkovskis.
