On Saturday, the Latvian Military Museum presented a new database that will allow access to the lists of Latvian residents who served in World War I and World War II available to the museum.
The public database "Latviešu karavīri" provides information about approximately 30,000 Latvian riflemen who participated in World War I and the Russian Civil War, as well as nearly 100,000 residents of Latvia who served in German military units during World War II. Whether the database includes information about Latvians who served in the Red Army is not specified by the LETA agency.
The database is intended for both professional researchers and genealogists, as well as other interested parties. In the future, it is planned to supplement the database with other lists of soldiers that are available to the museum or have been transferred to the museum. Over time, this website will become a single platform where basic information about residents of Latvia who participated in military conflicts in the first half of the 20th century can be found.
