Elena wanted a beautiful smile and entrusted the restoration of several teeth, including the installation of eight crowns, to a dental clinic in Riga. Shortly after, three crowns fell out. The patient accuses the clinic of providing poor service, reports the program 'Bez Tabu' (TV3).

For several medical procedures, Elena paid around 1300 euros to the Riga dental clinic “Sana EL.” The initial procedures before the placement of crowns cost about 500 euros — for which the institution issued receipts. However, no receipt was provided for the installation of eight crowns totaling 800 euros, Elena reported.

After a relatively short time, three of the eight crowns fell out. Now she carries them in her handbag as a reminder of the unsatisfactory service. The woman claims that she repeatedly tried to have what she believes were mistakes corrected, but the clinic, according to her, was not interested in cooperating.

“First, there was some strange movement in my mouth. The crowns fell out. Then another treated tooth broke. I’ve been without these crowns for three months now. Three fell out, and the remaining ones are loose on one side. These three were ‘wandering’ in my mouth, I spat them out — they remained in my hand. Good thing I didn’t swallow them. They refused to correct anything,” Elena said.

When Elena went to the clinic to sort things out, she was told that her doctor had gone on maternity leave, and other specialists did not want to help.

“There, her mother and father work. They manage everything there. When I came in, my dentist’s father looked at all this. I told him: ‘This is pornography in my mouth!’ He replied: ‘I agree, it’s pornography.’ He laughed and left. That was it. He said he wouldn’t do anything. I’ve been ‘fighting’ with them for about two months now. These fallen teeth are in my bag — a souvenir for such money! Moreover, I was not issued a receipt for the crowns costing 800 euros,” Elena clarified.

The program “Bez Tabu” went to the clinic “Sana EL” in the Riga district of Imanta without prior arrangement. The doctors who had previously communicated with Elena did not wish to speak with journalists, and the clinic’s director Elina, who is also the patient’s treating physician, did not answer the program’s call.

Only the clinic’s administrator, who is not a doctor, agreed to speak with journalists, claiming that she has knowledge due to her many years of experience at the institution. The clinic representative explained that the quality of the installed crowns depends on their type and price.

“This person was given what was offered for that money, and she agreed. She was given crowns at 100 euros each, but she wants them to look like they cost 300. The quality is for 100 euros. There are crowns made of metal-plastic, metal-ceramics, and zirconia. Metal-plastic ones cost 100 euros, metal-ceramic ones — 250 euros, zirconia ones — 350 euros,” she explained.

When asked if it is normal for crowns to fall out quickly, even if they are the cheapest, the administrator replied: “It’s normal; they just need to be put back in. Any bridge can fall out. Then it can be glued back.”

The clinic representative added that the patient was offered to have the same crowns installed again, but Elena believes they no longer belong in her mouth — in her opinion, they were made poorly and are already deformed.

Elena filed a complaint with the Health Inspectorate and the State Revenue Service regarding the lack of a receipt.
