What Are You Giving? Half of Latvia's Residents Are Displeased with Received Gifts

Almost half, or 49%, of Latvia's residents re-gift presents they received during the holidays, according to the results of a survey conducted by 'SEB banka'.

In Latvia, 49% of respondents re-gift presents they do not like, compared to 42% in Estonia and 40% in Lithuania.

One in ten donates gifts to charity shops, while about 8% of respondents sell them. Approximately the same number of respondents give away unwanted gifts for free, for example, in themed groups on Facebook.

Men are more likely to keep such gifts, while women are more likely to re-gift (55%), sell (9%), or give away for free (8%). A survey conducted in December 2025 by 'Norstat' involved 1,000 respondents aged 18 to 74 in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
