The passenger railway company Elron has announced a competition to find new employees with knowledge of the Latvian language.

Latvian-speaking workers are needed to service trains on the newly opened railway route Tallinn-Tartu-Riga this year.

"In January, we launched the first international route Elron Tallinn-Tartu-Riga, which led to an increased demand for employees who speak Latvian," said Elron's service manager Jaanika Lindre.

According to her, applications from candidates with knowledge of the Latvian language are especially awaited from Southern Estonia.

Additional staff are also required due to the overall increase in workload and the gradual introduction of new Škoda trains into service.

"We are looking for people who love to communicate, notice the needs of passengers, and strive to leave customers with the best impressions of the service in any situation," Lindre clarified.

Based on the results of the competition and the availability of suitable candidates, Elron plans to hire up to ten new customer service employees.
