This morning, many roads in Latvia are snowy and slippery

Snow and ice this morning are complicating traffic on many sections of the main and regional roads in Latvia, reported the LETA agency from the State Joint Stock Company "Latvijas valsts ceļi".

Snowy sections of the roads are being cleared and treated with anti-icing materials. To improve traffic conditions, 59 units of winter equipment are involved in road works.

Difficult driving conditions on state main roads have been recorded along the entire length of the Tallinn Highway (A1), on the section of the Vidzeme Highway (A2) from Riga to Rūjiena, on the section of the Valmiera Highway (A3) from Murjani to Strenči, as well as on the Riga ring roads — (Salaspils–Baltezers) (A4) and (Salaspils–Babīte) (A5).

Traffic is also complicated on the section of the Daugavpils Highway (A6) from Riga to Nīcgale, on the section of the Bauska Highway (A7) from Iecava to Grenctāle, on the Jelgava Highway (A8), Ventspils Highway (A10), on the section of the Liepaja Highway (A9) from Riga to Skrunda, on the Liepaja–Lithuania border road (Rucava) (A11), on the Rēzekne Highway (A12) and the Rēzekne ring road (A15), as well as on the section of the road from the border with Russia (Grebnevo) – Rēzekne – Daugavpils – border with Lithuania (Medumi) (A13) from Rušēnci to Rēzekne.

On regional roads, traffic is difficult throughout Latvia, except for the surroundings of Kuldīga, Smiltene, and Daugavpils.

Residents are urged to inform "Latvijas valsts ceļi" about difficult traffic conditions and other observations related to roads and transport by calling the 24-hour toll-free number 80005555, as well as through the company's accounts on social media X and Facebook.
