Today is the last day of the broadcasting license for the radio program "Latvian Radio 4 - Dome Square" (LR4), as stated in a release by the National Council of Electronic Media (NCEM), published in the official publication, reports LETA.
The National Council of Electronic Media (NCEM) has decided to revoke the license of LR4 effective January 1, 2026, at the request of Latvian Public Media (LSM), submitted on December 3 of last year.
It was previously reported that the Council of Public Electronic Media (CPEM) approved the strategic priorities developed by the LSM board for 2026–2029. Among other things, they include structural changes for LR4 in the Russian language, as well as the termination of its existence in the current linear format by the end of this year.
It was also reported that LSM has developed strategic priorities for its activities for the medium term of 2026–2029.
In early April 2024, the merger of Latvian Radio and Latvian Television was initiated. Both state capital companies were merged to create LSM, which began operations on January 1, 2025.
