Promoting Efficiency and Sustainability, Mēness aptieka First in Latvia Introduces Electronic Price Tags in Pharmacies

Modern and convenient solution — electronic price tags — has already been introduced in five Mēness aptieka, serving a large number of residents in Riga and Jelgava. This significantly relieves the workload of pharmaceutical specialists, creating the opportunity to spend more time on pharmaceutical care and conversation with patients, while also optimizing resource consumption towards sustainability.

Continuously modernizing services and developing various innovations for the convenience of customers and employees, Mēness aptieka is the first in Latvia to begin the introduction of electronic price tags in pharmacies across Latvia.

"The main and always relevant task of pharmacies is to provide customers with the necessary medications and offer quality pharmaceutical consultation. In the dynamic process of pharmacy operations, electronic price tags will be a significant relief in the daily work of pharmacists and labor organization. Manually replacing price tags requires working hours, so we are pleased that in a number of pharmacies we have found the opportunity to introduce electronic price tags, thereby allowing our pharmacists to spend more time on conversation and care for the health of the population. This technological solution also significantly optimizes resource usage and reduces waste volume. Therefore, we are satisfied with another step towards a more modern, sustainable, and customer-friendly pharmacy environment for pharmaceutical specialists," said pharmacist and board member of Mēness aptieka, Elena Petrishina.

Unlike paper price tags, the advantage of electronic ones is the ability to update prices digitally, ensuring accurate, quick, and efficient price management. At the same time, this solution is an important step in the company's sustainability policy — to reduce paper and printing resource consumption, as well as to decrease the associated waste volume.

The need for regular price tag changes in pharmacies is determined by several factors — both by customer needs and demand according to seasonality, as well as the arrival of new products on pharmacy shelves and special monthly offers. For example, during the winter period, products for strengthening immunity and treating cold symptoms are at the forefront in pharmacies for customer convenience, while in summer there is a higher demand for various sunburn protection products. Electronic price tags significantly ease the workload by providing continuous, quick, and accurate price adjustments according to the current needs of customers.

One of the first pharmacies where the new price tags are already available is the 24-hour Mēness aptieka "Kamēlija," which underwent significant reconstruction at the beginning of the year, reviving its historical concept in a new, modern form. Electronic price tags have also been introduced at Mēness aptieka in the Origo and Akropole Alfa shopping centers, as well as in pharmacies located at Kr. Valdemara Street 112 in Riga and Katolu Street 18 in Jelgava. Continuing targeted improvements for process efficiency, the electronic price tag solution is planned to be introduced in other Mēness aptieka locations next year.
