The country is full of idiots! Patriotic Latvians are forced to fight against vandals

Seeing the waving flag of Latvia is indeed touching, especially during national holidays when the whole country comes alive with patriotic sentiments, writes the portal La.lv. Its red-white-red symbolism always evokes a sense of pride for our country. Many drivers prefer to share this joy with others by attaching the country's flags to their cars, thus creating a pleasant and heartfelt festive atmosphere on the streets.

However, everything beautiful has a downside, which is revealed in one of the discussions on the social platform "X."

Ieva does not hide her irritation and writes: "In 4 days, I've already broken the second flag. The whole country is full of idiots."

A user with the pseudonym @mazais_mego asks the discussion author a clarifying question and expresses his opinion: "Idiots? They have always been here by definition. Non-fans of the Latvian flag used to gather in Pārdaugava by some concrete pole to drink and do nothing... And when it was demolished, these people did not suddenly disappear — most of them, obviously, remained here."

It turns out that some people prefer not to show their patriotism in public places because they fear disrespectful behavior. Martins shares that he once did not place a flag in his car because he understood well that in the courtyard of a nine-story building, it could end with broken glass.

Gatis also agrees, noting that there are people around who do not recognize the values of the Latvian state. He recounts that once a flag was torn off his car in one of the residential areas of Riga. He also adds that the situation in Ukraine well illustrates that part of the invaders is only capable of destruction, not creation.
