Residents continue to sign on the platform 'ManaBalss.lv' both in support of the Istanbul Convention and against it.
The initiative, which aimed to request the president to reconsider the law on Latvia's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, which he has already done, had gathered over 67,000 signatures by noon on Wednesday. This initiative is planned to be submitted to the president on Thursday, November 6, as reported by the LETA agency.
According to the LETA agency's archive, this initiative is one of the most widespread in the entire history of the platform.
Meanwhile, the number of signatures for the initiative, which has already been submitted to the Saeima and calls for the parliament to maintain Latvia's participation in the Istanbul Convention, has reached nearly 34,500.
In recent days, the collection of signatures for the non-joining of Latvia to the Istanbul Convention, which began back in 2016, has also intensified. In less than a decade, this initiative has garnered support from over 34,400 people. Additionally, this week, a new initiative has been launched, requiring the president to declare Latvia's withdrawal from the convention. So far, this initiative has collected about 7,800 signatures.
