The Reason for Latvia's Backwardness Named: "Low Trust in People in General"

The desire of the famous stage master to ascend to the political Olympus prompted a comment from Bens Latkovskis in Neatkarīgā. The author notes that the idea of eliminating the 'party cartel' sounds bright, but in reality – it is unworkable.

"It should be noted that such a system (at least within the framework of a democratic regime) has not worked anywhere for a long time. If there is no party, there is always some 'bright, strong personality' who sooner or later usurps all power.

It makes little sense to discuss how such a 'non-partisan', 'free management of personalities' would operate in Latvia, as the likelihood that the 'non-partisan' list could secure 51 seats in the Saeima and thus implement this idea in practice is extremely negligible. In this regard, the political advance of Hermanis' 'five' should be assessed not so much in the context of the upcoming Saeima elections, but in the context of the development of political thought, as discussions about changing the electoral system have been ongoing for a long time and have matured. If not overripe, as the mentioned manifesto has shown."

The observer reflects: "Latvia has low trust in people in general. In parentheses, we add that low mutual trust among members of society is considered one of the main reasons for the backwardness of such states. In Latvia, this distrust manifests itself not only in the distrust of the conditional Evika Silina but also in the conditional Alvis Hermanis, as well as any other person."
