Starting in October, a new service called "Mammu palīgi" (Mom's Helpers) became available in Riga. It was created under the auspices of the Welfare Department of the Riga City Council.

"This year, parents of newborns registered and residing in Riga can receive free informational and emotional support. It is funded by the Riga City Council," said the Riga City Council.

The new service is aimed at a specific target group: women diagnosed with postpartum depression who are caring for a child under one year old.

Here’s what the program includes:

– walks with the baby so that the mother can relax;

– assistance with household chores – shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc.;

– practical support in childcare;

– crisis response by involving specialists;

The service is available for up to 30 hours, 1-2 times a week. If necessary, its intensity can be increased to three times a week.

A medical document confirming the diagnosis is required (for example, an outpatient card excerpt or a doctor's conclusion). Applications can be submitted by calling 27333100.
