In the upcoming weekend and at the beginning of next week, Latvia will experience both sunshine and rain at times, as well as strong wind gusts, meteorologists predict.
On Saturday, there will be little precipitation, with only light rain expected in Vidzeme and Latgale. The beginning of the night will be clear in many places, the morning will be mostly cloudy, and during the day, starting from the west, the cloud cover will decrease.
A weak to moderate south-west wind on Saturday will shift to a north-west wind, with gusts expected to reach 10-15 meters per second in the afternoon. At night, in the eastern regions of the country, the thermometer will drop to +1 degree, while daytime maximums will range from +11 to +16 degrees.
On Sunday morning, rain is expected in most parts of Latvia, with heavy rain in some areas, and in the afternoon, there will be variable cloudiness with brief showers. In the morning and during the day, gusts of the north-west wind will reach 13-18 meters per second, and along the coast, up to 23 meters per second. Such winds can break tree branches and cause other minor damage. The air temperature will be +8 to +13 degrees.
The beginning of the new week will also bring both sunny weather and rain clouds. The wind will gradually weaken. The air temperature will not rise above +6 to +11 degrees.
According to the latest forecasts, a slightly warmer air mass will arrive from the west in the middle of next week, with occasional rain expected.
