In the "Week of Good Deeds" campaign, applications have been submitted for 113 events, with nearly seven thousand people ready to help others together, reports Latvian Television. However, experience from previous years shows that the number of participants will increase even more throughout the week.
The charitable organization Palīdzēsim.lv is holding the campaign for the 17th consecutive year. Its goal is to encourage the residents of Latvia to be responsive, helpful, kind, and to notice everyday situations where a helping hand is needed.
The initiative attracts schools, families, and businesses every year. The list of good deeds includes actions that benefit people in the neighborhood or local community, animals, or nature. For example, these can include activities to tidy up the nearby area, visiting elderly people in nursing homes, helping Ukraine, donating blood, walking animals in shelters, and much more.
To summarize the statistics at the end of the week, it is recommended to register each good deed on the interactive map on the website labodarbunedela.palidzesim.lv.
