Emma Heming on Bruce Willis's Illness: The Actor Is Unaware of His Dementia

Bruce Willis's wife, model Emma Heming, spoke about her husband's difficult health condition. According to her, the 70-year-old actor does not understand the seriousness of his illness.

Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia — a progressive disease that affects speech, behavior, and emotions. In the podcast Conversations with Cam, Heming noted that Willis lives without realizing the severity of his condition.

"Bruce doesn’t understand how hard it is for all of us, but he wouldn’t want to see our pain. He hasn’t realized that he is seriously ill, and I’m very glad about that," Emma admitted. She also clarified that the actor continues to recognize his loved ones, which is characteristic of frontotemporal dementia, where memory is partially preserved.

Heming noted that the first alarming signals appeared several years ago when she noticed changes in their relationship. At that time, she thought her husband had become distant due to a cooling of feelings. It turned out to be difficult to make the correct diagnosis, as the disease is often confused with depression, bipolar disorder, or a midlife crisis.

Bruce Willis retired in 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia — a speech disorder caused by brain damage. A year later, the diagnosis was clarified to frontotemporal dementia.
