An American court has demanded that the actress hand over personal messages and emails that could play a key role in the dispute over the French winery Château Miraval.
A court in Los Angeles has ruled that Angelina Jolie must disclose personal messages and emails as part of the protracted legal conflict with Brad Pitt. The decision pertains to the dispute over the sale of her stake in the Château Miraval winery, which was previously co-owned by the former spouses.
According to RadarOnline, the court has ordered the actress to provide the requested materials within 45 days. Pitt's legal team believes this decision is a significant procedural victory. The actor's lawyers argue that the correspondence could confirm the claim that Jolie acted opaquely and violated the terms of their shared business ownership.
Château Miraval is not only a renowned winery in France but also a landmark in the couple's history: it is where Pitt and Jolie got married in 2014. After the divorce, the actress sold her stake in the company associated with Stoli Group without consulting her ex-husband. Pitt insists that the partners had previously agreed not to sell the asset to third parties without mutual consent and is seeking to have the transaction declared invalid. This was previously reported by People and Page Six, citing court documents.
Jolie's representatives state that the actress had every right to manage her share of the business and acted within the law. Meanwhile, Pitt's lawyers assert that the personal messages and letters may contain evidence that the sale was planned in advance and in violation of their agreements.
Earlier in this same process, Jolie claimed that Pitt allegedly exerted financial pressure on her and deprived her of access to their joint property. However, the court found these claims insufficiently substantiated to alter the course of the case.
