"A hidden gem where waterfalls sparkle, trees whisper, and steam trains glide through the mist like something out of a fairy tale."
In Wales, there is a corner where it seems that time has stopped, and the mist drifts between ancient trees like ghostly vines. This is the Rheidol Valley in Ceredigion, where the forest is so enchanting and mysterious that it resembles a fairy tale. This is reported by Express.
It is noted that the Rheidol Valley ranks high on the wish list of avid travelers, especially the Vale of Rheidol Railway, which is listed among the best tourist destinations in the world.
"This is one of the most magical landscapes in Britain, a hidden gem where waterfalls sparkle, trees whisper, and steam trains glide through the mist like something out of a fairy tale," emphasized travel experts from Ski Vertigo.
At the same time, the forests near the famous Devil's Bridge are filled with mystery and wonder. Twisted oaks tower over the paths, and thin streams tumble down steep slopes.
"The Vale of Rheidol Railway, a magical steam locomotive that seems to have been transported from another era, slowly travels through the valley. It meanders leisurely through the forest, releasing white clouds that drift among the trees. Locals say its whistle can be heard long before it appears over the hill—a soft, ghostly sound echoing across the hillside," describes Express.
This train travels from the Edwardian era, passing Aberffrwd, Rheidol Falls, Rhiwfron, and ending its journey at Devil's Bridge.
"Upon arriving at Devil's Bridge, the story becomes even more magical. Three bridges, built over the centuries, are located one above the other. According to local legends, the first was built by the Devil himself, as the locals considered the gorge too deep to cross. An agreement was made—the soul of the first creature to cross the bridge would belong to him," the publication adds.
However, according to local legend, cunning locals first sent a dog across, tricking the devil and saving their souls. Yet, when the sunset wind howls across the bridge, some say it sounds like a quiet growl.
