A group of researchers observed chickens on a farm for three weeks. During the experiment, 18,000 photographs of the poultry were collected. The scientists uploaded this data into a computer program to analyze changes in the skin color of chickens depending on various factors.
The results confirmed that chickens do indeed turn slightly red when they receive tasty feed. If a hen experiences negative emotions (for example, when it is caught or under stress), its skin turns bright red. In a state of calm, the skin color lightens.
