Jurmala Hospital has begun the search for a new chief physician. Candidates are expected to have not only medical experience but also their own vision for the development of the institution, with a salary during the probationary period of at least 3500 euros before taxes.
Jurmala Hospital LLC has announced an open competition for the position of chief physician. The future leader will be responsible for organizing the treatment process, the quality of medical care, patient safety, and the development of medical services in the institution.
The responsibilities will also include coordinating the work of medical personnel, ensuring compliance with healthcare legislation, and collaborating with government institutions, local government, and the hospital's partners.
Candidates must have a higher medical education and at least three years of experience or managerial activity in a medical institution. Additionally, applicants are expected to have knowledge in healthcare organization, leadership qualities, strategic thinking, and a high level of responsibility.
A separate requirement is fluency in the Latvian language, as well as knowledge of two foreign languages.
It is important to note that the position can be combined with work in the primary medical specialty. For many doctors, this may provide an opportunity to maintain practical activity while also participating in the management of the hospital.
To participate in the competition, candidates must submit a motivation letter, a resume, documents confirming their education and qualifications, as well as a description of their vision for the development of the hospital's treatment direction, limited to two pages. Additionally, at least two recommendation letters are required.
Documents will be accepted until June 26. Only candidates selected by the competition commission will be invited to the second round.
According to the annual report, the Jurmala Hospital, owned by the local government, increased its turnover by 3.5% to 12.09 million euros in 2025. At the same time, the institution's losses decreased to 33,200 euros.
The search for a new chief physician comes shortly after a change in the hospital's leadership. Since May of this year, the chairman of the board has been Didzis Lukins, who previously worked at the Red Cross Hospital in Smiltene.
The competition will help identify a person who will be responsible not only for the current operations of the medical institution but also for its further development in the coming years.
