Some species of wild strawberries are commonly referred to as strawberries.
Wild strawberries (Fragária) represent a genus of perennial plants, consisting of about 20 wild and cultivated species. Some of these species are distinguished by their large fruits — these are the ones commonly referred to as strawberries in everyday language.
Such species include, for example, the garden strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa), the musk strawberry (Fragária moscháta), and the green strawberry (Fragária víridis). These cultivated species of wild strawberries are also divided into various varieties.
