Is it possible to effectively lose weight during fasting?

Can fasting contribute to weight loss? Which products can help maintain health? How to properly end a fast to avoid gaining extra kilograms?

 

It is indeed possible to lose weight on a fasting menu. This is due to the cleansing of the intestines through increased fiber intake and the elimination of excess fluid from the body. As noted by epidemiologist Valeria GUTOROVA, it is important to prepare a variety of recipes in advance to avoid boredom from a monotonous diet and to provide the body with all the necessary vitamins, micro- and macroelements.

During Lent, various vegetables and fruits can be consumed; however, one should not forget about the important nutrient — protein, which is not found in all plant products. Mushrooms can serve as a source of protein.

Legumes, such as beans and peas, can also help with this. Pay attention to the right (whole grain) cereals. Our stores offer a wide selection: buckwheat, rice, lentils, oats, rye, millet, barley, and wheat groats. To prevent iron deficiency during fasting, seaweed is a good option. If you feel like having something sweet, try making dishes from frozen berries, such as smoothies or fasting pies. This will help avoid gaining extra weight and not break the fast.

Returning to a normal diet should occur gradually. First, introduce fermented dairy products (yogurt, kefir, cottage cheese) and eggs into the diet, then lean meat. It is better to prefer dishes that are steamed. You should eat in small portions, consuming only one protein product at a time. If you want to maintain the weight loss achieved, it is best to avoid processed meat products (sausages, cold cuts, etc.), chips, baked goods, sweets, salty, fried, pickled, and smoked foods, as well as carbonated drinks.
