How to Properly Carry Out Spring Pruning of Fruit Trees?

When forecasting a significant harvest, determined by the number of flower buds, one can confidently carry out a strong pruning, regardless of the number of removed fruiting elements.

In the case of a poor harvest year, on the contrary, it is necessary to preserve all existing fruit formations so that the load on the tree is maximally high. This will help weaken growth and moderate the formation of flower buds for the next year's harvest, which, in turn, will contribute to maintaining a physiological balance between growth and fruiting, as well as smoothing out the periodicity of yields.

GLOSSARY

Yield regulation is the process of reducing the number of fruit buds, reserve flowers, and ovaries, which is carried out by thinning and shortening fruit spurs during pruning, as well as through the application of chemicals during and after the flowering of trees.
