Where is the optimal place to plant potatoes?

Potatoes can be successfully grown in mixed cultures. This helps reduce diseases and allows for longer storage of the harvest in one area.

The best companions for potatoes are spinach, bush beans, and peas. Beans planted between the rows enrich the soil with nitrogen and help repel the Colorado potato beetle. Potatoes also grow well next to cabbage, especially cauliflower and kohlrabi, as well as various types of lettuce, corn, and radishes.

A small number of horseradish plants placed at the corners of the potato field positively affects the potatoes. Plants such as catnip, coriander, nasturtium, yarrow, and marigolds are useful for repelling the Colorado potato beetle.

However, it is not recommended to plant potatoes near celery, as sunflowers also have a suppressive effect on them.
