How to Properly Fertilize Lilies in the Garden?

Preparing the site for lilies requires a careful approach and preliminary measures.

For the successful growth of lilies, loose, nutritious, and well-drained soil free from perennial weeds is essential. When digging the soil, it is recommended to add 8-9 kg/m2 of compost (the use of fresh manure is undesirable), 50 g/m2 of double superphosphate (or 70 g/m2 of bone meal), and 100-200 g/m2 of wood ash. Immediately before planting, 50 g/m2 of potassium sulfate is added.

In early spring, the soil should be covered with leaf compost or peat in a layer of 2-3 cm. After 1-2 weeks, the first fertilization is carried out using nitrogen fertilizers (30-40 g/m2 of ammonium nitrate dissolved in 10 liters of water). A week later, the second fertilization is performed: 50 g/m2 of nitrophosphate is applied during watering or subsequently incorporated into the soil.

After 1.5-2 months from the start of lily growth, the third fertilization is conducted using 40 g/m2 of nitrophosphate dissolved in 10 liters of water per 1 m2.
