How to Effectively Combat Scab on Fruit Trees?

To combat scab, it is necessary to eliminate sources of infection in the garden — fallen infected leaves, on which the fungus causing the disease overwinters.

They should be collected and burned or buried at a significant depth.

In early spring, before the buds begin to swell, it is recommended to treat the trees and the soil beneath them with 3% nitrafen. As an alternative to nitrafen, a "blue spraying" with 3-4% Bordeaux mixture can be performed at the stage of bud break. After flowering, it is necessary to treat the trees with 1% Bordeaux mixture, 0.4% polycarbacin, 0.3% copper oxychloride, or 0.4% polyhom.

It is important to remember that copper preparations (Bordeaux mixture, copper oxychloride, polyhom) can cause "netting" on the fruits and leaf burns during summer spraying, so it is better not to use them after flowering.
