Strawberries grow well on a flat surface with a slope towards the southwest.
It is impractical to grow strawberries on steep slopes, just as it is in lowlands where cold air accumulates. This leads to delays in harvest and increases the risk of plant diseases.
Unsatisfactory results are also observed on steep southern slopes, where snow melts quickly, exposing the strawberries. This crop requires a sufficient amount of moisture, but it is contraindicated to overwater it.
The planting site should be protected from winds, as at temperatures of minus 10-12 degrees, some roots may freeze. Therefore, strawberries winter better under a layer of snow 20–25 cm thick.
