How to Effectively Clean Furniture and Carpets in Your Home

A stain from grease or dirt may appear on your favorite sofa or beautiful carpet. There's no need to panic prematurely. You can tackle stubborn stains at home on your own! In this article, we will explain how to easily and quickly clean furniture with various coverings.

Upholstered Furniture

Stains on upholstered furniture should be addressed as quickly as possible. Household items like liquid soap or laundry gel may prove ineffective. It is recommended to use specialized products designed for upholstered furniture and textiles. Universal cleaners suitable for various surfaces can also be helpful.

It is most convenient to use spray products — they are easier to distribute evenly. If there are allergy sufferers or people sensitive to smells in the family, it is better to choose fragrance-free products.

Apply the liquid to the stain or to the entire upholstery if you simply want to refresh it. Then wait for the time indicated on the packaging (usually about 5 minutes) and gently wipe the surface with a damp cloth. To completely remove any residue, the procedure can be repeated several times. After that, allow the fabric to dry.

Leather Furniture

Maintaining the appearance of leather furniture is usually not difficult: simply wipe it down with a damp cloth or sponge once a week. However, if the furniture has lost its shine and stains have appeared, it is better to use specialized products. They are suitable for both natural and synthetic leather.

Spray the product on the surface and after a few minutes, remove it with a damp cloth. Specialized products for leather surfaces not only remove dirt and give the leather a beautiful shine, but also create a thin protective layer that protects the furniture from stains and moisture, allowing it to look new for longer.

Wooden Furniture

Simply dusting wooden furniture is not enough. For proper care, it is necessary to use cleaners and polishes. They gently remove stains, protect against dirt, and give the surface a noble shine. Typically, they contain waxes and natural oils that care for the furniture. Additionally, such products have an anti-static effect, which helps reduce dust accumulation on the furniture.

Wooden furniture cleaners can also be used for wooden flooring, as they too benefit from a beautiful shine and protection from dust.

Carpets and Rugs

Expensive handmade natural rugs are best left to professionals, while you can manage the rest on your own.

To choose the right product, clarify what material your carpet is made of. It is also important to consider the type of cleaning: manual or using a carpet cleaner. There are products for each type, as well as universal ones that are suitable for both cases.

If you plan to clean the carpet manually, first vacuum it thoroughly. Dilute the product in water according to the instructions and apply it evenly over the entire surface, paying special attention to stains. Allow the product to dry, and then vacuum the carpet again. It will sparkle with cleanliness!

For wet cleaning with a carpet cleaner, dilute the product in water and use it according to the appliance's instructions. Note: try not to soak the carpet with water and plan your cleaning time so that it has time to dry naturally.

By the way

Leather furniture cleaners are great for cleaning the leather interior of a car. And products for upholstered furniture can be used to refresh the fabric seats of your vehicle.
