What causes gnats to appear in houseplants? How to deal with them?
There are many reasons why gnats may appear in houseplants. As noted by flower shop seller Anna MOKRYSHEVA, this can be caused by excessive soil moisture, the use of organic fertilizers that begin to decompose over time, untreated soil containing insect larvae and plant debris, as well as spoiled food that can attract gnats to the plants.
To combat the insects, the first step is to isolate the affected plant from the others to prevent the gnats from spreading to healthy flowers. Then, it is necessary to repot the plant in a new pot with clean soil and treat it with a special aerosol.
You can also use a proven method: dilute potassium permanganate in water to obtain a light pink solution (0.1 g of potassium permanganate per 1 liter of water) and water or spray the flower with this solution once a week.
