“Yes, birds do need food year-round; however, with the arrival of spring, feeders should be removed so that the birds do not lose their instincts,” notes ecologist Victoria MAZANIK. “In winter, birds lack natural food, but with the onset of warm weather, there are plenty of insects, worms, and caterpillars, and they can find food for themselves.”
At the beginning of spring, it is still possible to feed the birds, but around the end of March to early April, this practice should be discontinued. If your feeder is made of durable material, wash it, dry it, and store it until next winter. Feeders made of cardboard and plastic are better off being disposed of.”
