The short answer: a shower won’t help you sober up. The body eliminates alcohol on a set schedule, and you can’t trick it with a shower. The liver processes 1 unit of alcohol per hour. There are 2 units in 175 ml of red wine. If you drink two or three glasses, the alcohol will be metabolized and eliminated from your body through breath and urine over the course of the night.
A shower cannot affect this process, just like a cup of coffee. However, many people do feel better under cold water. Why is that?
