Does tobacco smoke really threaten the health of pets?

There are claims that tobacco smoke can provoke cancer in dogs...

Yes, continuous exposure to tobacco smoke increases the risk of bladder cancer in dogs by six times, reported scientist Jacqueline BOYD from Nottingham Trent University (UK).

According to her, breeds with long snouts, such as collies, are at higher risk for developing nasal cancer due to the carcinogens found in cigarettes. Pugs and other brachycephalic (flat-nosed) dog breeds are also at risk for lung cancer for the same reason.

Jacqueline Boyd advises smoking pet owners that if they cannot quit smoking, they should at least minimize harm by taking smoke breaks outdoors and regularly ventilating their homes.
