How to Properly Prepare a Nutrient Mixture for Seedlings?

Sharing the experience of agronomist and gardener Alexander Khorobrovets:

- The nutrient mixture for seedlings is prepared taking into account the specific crop and should consist only of fresh, uncontaminated soil. For cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, physalis, celery, and lettuce, it is recommended to mix sod or compost soil with humus and sand in a ratio of 1:2:1.

Two cups of ash are added to each bucket, and for cabbage, an additional cup of lime is added. A mixture consisting of equal parts of humus and well-aerated lowland peat can also be used. In any case, one bucket should have superphosphate (three matchboxes) and potassium sulfate (one box) added. If mineral fertilizers are not available, they can be replaced with wood ash, up to three cups.

For cucumbers and other gourd crops, crushed sod mixed in equal parts with humus or compost soil is placed in pots or cups. One cup of ash is added to each bucket. Nutrient pots or cubes can be formed from the same mixtures by adding a solution of cow manure in a ratio of 1 liter to 10 liters of water. Watering should be done carefully so that the pots do not break apart.
