Lard, Mint, Potatoes: Popular Folk Methods for Relieving Toothache

Certainly, teeth should be treated by a dentist; however, if a visit is delayed, there are ways to temporarily relieve pain.

Clove. To relieve pain, it is necessary to chew a clove bud, which will release oil. This is indicated by a bitter taste in the mouth. Chew the clove bud for 2-3 minutes, then rinse your mouth with water. The analgesic effect will last about 3 hours. You can also apply clove essential oil to a cotton ball and place it on the affected area.

Table salt. Dissolve a tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water and rinse your mouth.

Garlic. Mash a clove of garlic into a paste, place it in a gauze pad, and hold it near the problematic tooth for a few minutes.

Lard. Place a small piece of fresh or salted lard between your cheek and the painful tooth and hold it for 20 minutes.

Vanilla extract. Apply 3-4 drops of this remedy, available at pharmacies, to a cotton pad and place it on the painful tooth.

Mint. Brew 1 teaspoon of mint in a glass of boiling water and use this solution for rinsing your mouth. You can also apply mint tea bags to the painful area.

Potatoes. Peel a raw potato, wash it thoroughly, and cut it into slices. Apply pieces of raw potato to the tooth until the pain completely disappears. To enhance the effect, the potato can be mashed with table salt beforehand.

Activated charcoal. Crush a charcoal tablet into powder and apply it to the painful tooth. Wait for 3-5 minutes, then brush your teeth thoroughly and rinse your mouth with water.

Iodine. Add 4-5 drops of iodine to a glass of water and rinse your mouth.
