What is more – a liter of milk or a kilogram?

I noticed a milk package labeled "1 kg". What is this innovation? And what is more – a kilogram or a liter? Why is this being done?

According to physics teacher Vladimir DOVNAR, such practices may be aimed at concealing the fact that the volume of the product in the packaging has decreased compared to previous standards.

On average, 1 liter of milk exceeds 1 kilogram of this product by about 3%. This is due to the density of milk, which varies depending on its fat content. Not everyone is aware of this, so such "tricks" to save raw materials may also be used in the production of other dairy products.

“Most buyers are unlikely to notice such a detail,” noted marketer Lyudmila ARSENTYEVA, “a person sees the number 1, and what lies behind it may go unnoticed. Probably, this is what the calculation is based on.”
