What are the benefits of infrared lamps for human health?
There is no definitive answer to this question.
“Infrared lamps are used in medicine. They effectively help with ARVI, as well as in the treatment of varicose veins and edema. However, in such cases, the use of the equipment is monitored by a specialist in a medical institution. Achieving the desired effect at home can be quite difficult,” explains preventive medicine doctor Alexandra ZHUKOVSKAYA. “Improper use of an infrared lamp can lead to a deterioration in well-being.
The most dangerous for health are short infrared waves, as they severely dry out the skin. In addition, infrared heaters can negatively affect eye health by irradiating the lens and retina, which increases the risk of cataract development. To avoid such exposure, it is important to choose products from reliable manufacturers; the device should have a power of no more than 150 W/m2 and heat surrounding objects to no more than 36°C.
It is recommended to install the device in a distant corner of the room or under the ceiling at a sufficient height to avoid overheating the skin and head. The device should be directed not at a person, but at objects that, when heated, will emit soft and safe warmth. However, not every lamp that emits red light is infrared. There are LED grow lights with red or blue spectra that are completely safe. At the same time, fluorescent grow lights with red-blue glow can be dangerous due to ultraviolet radiation, and their use in living spaces is not recommended.”
