Why You Shouldn't Rush to Dispose of Your Christmas Tree

Don't rush to get rid of even the wilted green beauty—it may prove useful. Find out how.

Insulate Perennial Plants

Cut branches from the tree, chop them into small pieces, and lay them on flower beds as winter cover to protect dormant flowers and plants from severe frost and sharp temperature fluctuations.

Make Natural Soap

Natural coniferous soap will delight you not only with its pleasant aroma but also with the effects of the essential oils from fir or pine: they promote relaxation, relieve headaches, and help prevent colds.

If the needles on your tree have already dried out, first soak them in warm water, then blend them in a blender. Melt regular baby soap in a water bath or microwave, adding 1 teaspoon of chopped needles for every 100 g of soap base. Stir until the mixture starts to cool, then pour it into a special silicone mold and let it set for a few hours at room temperature.

Create Fragrant Sachets

Collect the needles and place them in a small bag—the scent of the tree will remind you of the holiday all year round. You can also add cinnamon, dried oranges, or lavender. The finished sachets can be placed in the closet among clothes or hung in the bedroom, remembering to occasionally crush them to release the essential oils from the needles.
