How to make a cut tree last longer?
“Before setting up the tree, cut the bottom end of the trunk by 2-4 cm and split it to a depth of 6 cm. Treat the new cut with a damp sponge or simply dip it in water to prevent the plant's conducting vessels from getting air bubbles,” explains dendrologist Mikhail RUDEVICH. “After that, place the tree in a stable stand with a water reservoir and regularly replenish its supply.
Position the tree away from heating devices. Special fertilizers for coniferous plants or a homemade solution will also help prolong the life of your green beauty: one aspirin tablet and a teaspoon of sugar dissolved in a liter of water. Before decorating the tree, mist it with water from a spray bottle; it will gratefully absorb water through the pores in the needles.”
