How Do the Phases of the Moon Affect Nature?

The influence of the Moon affects various cyclical processes in living organisms, noted the compiler of the lunar calendar, Valentina KOROLEVA. The movement of juices in plants and fluctuations in atmospheric pressure, which also affect humans, are manifestations of lunar influence.

The phase of the Moon is a periodically changing form of the part of the Moon illuminated by sunlight, observed from Earth. Our satellite goes through eight phases, but only four of them are considered primary: full moon, waxing moon, new moon, and waning moon. Each of these phases affects our emotions and overall mood in its own way.

The new moon is the phase when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, lying on a straight line with them. The first quarter occurs a week after the new moon, when exactly half of the visible part of the Moon is illuminated. When the Sun and the Moon are on opposite sides of the Earth, the star fully illuminates the satellite, and a new phase begins — the full moon. In the third quarter, we again see half of the Moon, and then we observe a narrow crescent, but now facing the other way — this is the waning moon.

During the waxing moon (1st and 2nd quarters), the life juices rise from the roots upwards, the root system develops weakly, while the stem, crown, leaves, and fruits are filled with energy. At full moon, the fruits, leaves, and flowers are maximally saturated with juices.

During the waning moon (3rd and 4th quarters), the nutrient juices move from top to bottom, heading towards the roots, which reduces the viability of the above-ground parts of the plants. During this period, the roots become particularly strong, and their survival rate and immunity to infections increase. At new moon, biological processes in plants slow down, as if they are falling into dormancy.

How to Get a Good Harvest

To gather a full harvest of above-ground plants, seeds should be planted in the ground during the waxing moon (from new moon to full moon), when the plant juices rise from the roots upwards. The exception is head lettuce and other vegetables that may bolt; they should be planted during the waning moon. Dry seeds can be sown 2-3 days before the favorable period so that they have time to swell and activate.

Trees, shrubs, and flowers, that is, everything that should grow upwards, should also be planted during the waxing moon.

If underground parts of plants, such as root vegetables, are needed, they should be planted during the waning moon, between the full moon and the new moon, when the life force decreases, and all the juices are directed to the roots.

It is not recommended to sow and plant during the new moon and full moon, as well as on the days of solar and lunar eclipses. Moreover, it is better to refrain from these actions for 12 hours before and for 12 hours after these events occur. It is optimal to take a day off and not touch the plants.
